How Often Should You Deep Clean Your Carpets?

Carpets quietly collect dust, allergens and moisture — especially in a humid climate. Cleaning them on the right schedule keeps your home healthier and helps your carpets last years longer.

Vacuum little and often

For everyday upkeep, vacuum high-traffic areas at least twice a week and the whole home weekly. Frequent vacuuming stops grit from grinding into the fibres, which is the main cause of carpets looking tired before their time.

Deep clean on a seasonal rhythm

As a general rule:

  • Every 6 to 12 months for a typical household.
  • Every 3 to 6 months if you have pets, young children or allergies.
  • Every 3 months for busy commercial or high-traffic areas.

Hot-water extraction reaches deep into the pile, drawing out embedded dirt and dust mites that vacuuming alone cannot.

Deal with spills straight away

Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — working from the outside in. Never rub, as that spreads the stain and damages the fibres. Fresh spills lift far more easily than ones left to set.

Protect against humidity

Damp carpets are a breeding ground for mould and odours. Keep rooms ventilated, run a fan or dehumidifier during wet spells, and make sure carpets dry fully after any cleaning.

Know when to bring in the professionals

If your carpet still looks dull after vacuuming, holds onto odours, or hasn't had a deep clean in over a year, it's time for professional extraction. Our upholstery and carpet care service refreshes the pile and has most carpets touch-dry within hours.

A little routine care goes a long way — and the occasional deep clean does the rest.
